Before you come ... - If possible, please print out and bring page 1 of the garden map, at http://harvardlocal.org/communitygarden/files/harvard-community-garden.pdf . News ... - Tony said he would till the garden tonight! Take a look if you drive by, and see how it looks. Agenda ... - If anyone would like to volunteer to take meeting minutes, it would be greatly appreciated. - Can everyone please sign up on the community garden email list. This is the only medium we have for announcements. - Fence. Should be here soon! Can we ask for a few volunteers to help install it? - Cow manure. Too late to till in now. Can we turn it with straw or another carbon source, so that it doesn't smell? It should be covered with a tarp so it doesn't leach, how will this look? - Perennial plots. Where are perennial plots located in the garden - northeast corner? Do we have community plots, with permaculture vegetables. How are they organized, who weeds and harvests them? Do we treat them as individual plots on which several people are collaborating? Or is the harvest they open to the entire town? - Garden path. What do we use for cover - landscape fabric / cover crop / wood chips / grass (must be mowed)? - Tilling. Do we till the garden Fall and Spring every year? This is related to the question of garden path maintenance, since some covers such as wood chips are more or less permanent, and shouldn't be tilled. Do we ask someone with equipment to till? This may cost money, unless someone donates time and equipment like Tony Shaw did this year. How much of the garden would we till, all? half? Or do we rent a rototiller, and individuals who want can till their plots? - Water. We can use hand tools to dig out a pool at the spring. How do we get water from the stream/spring to the garden? How do we store it - barrels, pools? How do we get it from storage to the plots - buckets? - Insurance. Do we need it, for electric fence, tools, etc? How do we work with town (Conservation Commission)? What kind of policy?
